Kathy Thompson

Kat Thompson was born and raised in ranch country, near the Cheyenne River Breaks of Western South Dakota. Kat grew up with a love of big country, horses, and cattle. Her western life style supplies her with an endless bounty of resource material. Mostly self taught in her art, Kat has exacted from studying the art of notables such as Charles Russell, Frederic Remington, Harvey Dunn, and Frank Tenney Johnson, among others; with a continuous love of studying and learning in the arts. Kat is a founding member of Weaver Art Gallery, Sturgis, SD., and has had art exhibits at the Belle Fourche SD. Western Arts Roundup, Sturgis SD. Center for the Arts, and the High Plains Heritage Center(National Day of the Cowboy) Spearfish, SD.. Past shows/exhibits at Wall Drug Store-Wall, SD., Tri-State Museum-Belle Fourche, SD., Spearfish Festival in the Park-Spearfish, SD., Devils Tower WY.
