Adam Hudson

Adam Hudson says growing up in Deadwood in the 40's & 50's gave him a sense of history and an affinity for things antique. Very early on he was attracted to art. Paintings of swashbuckling pirates in Howard Pyle's books fascinated me. He has drawn and carved from his earliest remembrances through time. He was never drawn to one medium, as he felt the various ones each told their story in a unique way. Some subjects are more fitted to pencil or pen & ink, while others need another treatment. Consequently he works in several mediums that include watercolor, pen & ink, pencil and stained glass (2D & 3D). He especially likes painting watercolors of older cars as modern cars have largely lost the sculptural uniqueness so prevalent in the 40's & 50's cars. Abandoned farm machinery & old cars in fields attract him, as do old mines & cabins. They each have their stories too. The stained Glass lamps that he creates are usually placed on antique bases as his lamps are somewhat Tiffanyesque in nature.

His professional background includes 5 years teaching art in a Wisconsin Junior High and 27 years teaching junior high art in Gillette, Wyoming. He retired from teaching after 32 years in 2001. He earned his BS in Art Education in 1969 at Black Hills University, Spearfish, South Dakota. In 1985, he received his MA in Art from the University of Wyoming in Laramie.
